Ayurveda means knowledge or science of long life. It has a history as long as human civilization and even beyond. Ayurveda serves to maintain, promote and restore good health as well as preventing illness. It treats the man as a whole physical, mental and spiritual aspects. This holistic approach of Ayurvedic system is termed as most ideal system for mankind. The curative power and rejuvenating potency of Ayurveda is amazing.
 
Today the world has realized and recognized Ayurveda for its excellence and naturality. Born in the soils of India through farsighted vision of our great saints, who enlighted us on the use of the traditional medicines, efficacious in the treatment of all diseases for all climes and for all times. Ayurveda is mainly divided into two parts.
 
  SWASTHA VRUTHA - Principles of good health and preventive methods.
 
ATHURA VRUTHA - Detailed description of etiology, systems, pathological conditions, treatments etc..
The basic principles of Ayurveda are mainly: -
  Panchabhoota Sidhanta
  Tridosha Sidhantha
 
The Tridosha theory is co related with Panchabootha theory. There are three biological humors or doshas. VATHA - The energetic humor controls destruction, PITTA - The thermogenic humor organizes body activities after transformation and KAPHA - The cohesive humor is responsible for maintaining creation.
